Patentability (Novelty) Searches

Our standard patentability search is designed to locate all relevant patents you should consider in making a determination of the novelty and nonobviousness of an invention. We search BOTH the utility and design features of an invention to provide you with the option of advising your client regarding both design and utility patent protection. Our analysts search our comprehensive worldwide Patent Database and utilize our unique VidiVici™ viewer to provide accurate and concise results.

Accelerated Examination

The USPTO has established procedures under which the examination of a patent application may be accelerated. Many requirements must be met to qualify for this expedited procedure, including a more stringent preexamination search on a drafted set of claims. See 71 FR 36323. If your patent application is eligible for Accelerated Examination, WashPat can conduct the necessary research and provide you with the results in accordance with the Accelerated Examination Search Support Document (AESD) as mandated by the USPTO.

Trademark Research

WashPat will conduct a comprehensive trademark search through U.S. Federal, U.S. State, International (WIPO), European Community, and Canadian trademark databases. A trademark search will assist a practitioner in filing a trademark application, or can be utilized in conjunction with a landscape, due diligence, or corporate transaction investigation.

Non-patent Literature Searching

Washpat combines cutting edge, inclusive non-patent literature databases such as Lexis, Dialog Pro, IEEE, Science Direct and Industry Standards searching on Delphion. Our analysts also actively search publicly available web based engines such as Google Scholar. Additinally, our analysts utilize the USPTO search templates as a guide to ensure that your non-patent literature search has adequate data coverage.
