Meet the WashPat Staff
Shane Davis began his engineering journey straight out of high school by enlisting in the US Navy as a submariner. He attended Nuclear Field A School and Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando FL and went on to Charleston SC to work on a prototype nuclear reactor. He finished his enlistment as a machinist mate second class and engineering laboratory technician aboard the USS Sunfish, SSN 649. Shane then began to further his education at St. Petersburg Junior College and then transferring across the bay to the University of South Florida, completing a degree in Physics. He has been working as a patent searcher ever since. Shane has extensive expertise searching in the variety of technical disciplines including electronics, semiconductor manufacture and design, software, biomechanics/biomedicine, mechanical and optics. His particular focus has been in the area of Freedom to Operate (FTO), having personally conducted well over 1000 FTO searches. Shane, his wife and his two children have made St. Petersburg their home. Shane enjoys coaching his son’s basketball and his daughter’s fastpitch softball teams. He is currently working towards a blue belt in Brazilian Ju Jitsu , is an evolving kickboxer and is looking forward to training for an amateur mixed marital arts fight in the near future.
Brian D. Goldych
Brian D. Goldych is a seasoned intellectual property professional. He has been a patent and trademark search professional for over 15 years. He originally graduated from the University of Mississippi with degrees in Physics and Math, he then furthered his education with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of South Florida. As a result of his education and professional experience he has expertise with such diverse topics as electrical, optical, mechanical, biological, and biomedical arts. He enjoyed the area of intellectual property law so much, that he decided to attend law school. He matriculated to the Stetson University College of Law, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Juris Doctor, and he is currently a member of the Florida Bar. His exposure to law has also allowed him to diversify his skill set to further include trademarks and copyrights. Brian is a longtime Florida resident and enjoys all of the activities the state has to offer. In addition, Brian is also an avid traveler, among his favorite places in the world to visit are Israel, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Iceland, Ireland, Spain, and the United Kingdom
Hans Christian Chehaiber
Hans Christian Chehaiber is an excited rising professional that is passionate about science and engineering. Having graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Hans has shown a great interest in new emerging technologies. His focus in microprocessor applications and embedded systems resulted in him breaking into software engineering right after graduation, where he learned Java development and automation testing. Thirsty for being on the cutting edge of new technology and discovery, Hans has dedicated himself to patent research and analysis, where he can focus his efforts on helping inventors bring to fruition their vision of the future. In his spare time, Hans does his best to enjoy the Sunshine State that has been his home from near birth. Kayaking, SCUBA diving, fishing, snorkeling and visiting the variety of theme parks Florida has to offer are just some of the hobbies that keeps him busy almost year-round here in Florida.
Jake Draughon is an enthusiastic patent analyst that has developed his knowledge and skills in engineering and science through years of hands on experience. He began his formal education in electrical and mechanical engineering processes while serving in the US Air Force as an aircraft avionics specialist. While continuing his Air Force service through the AF reserves, he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technologies from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He presently holds and Associates of Science from the Air Force Community College for Aircraft System Sciences and an Associates of Arts from St. Petersburg College for Engineering Studies. His extensive back ground in mechanical, electrical, chemical and software system maintenance and usage has become a foundation on which he has built the skills needed to thoroughly and efficiently provide patent research information to inventors. In his spare time, Jake is an avid weight lifter and enjoys hunting, fishing, biking and kayaking.
Mitchell D. Crane
Mitchell D. Crane is an experienced patent analyst and administrative professional. He began working at Washington Patent Services in 2008 and has enjoyed the challenge of the job and the opportunities to learn and grow that come with it. Always eager to learn more and help others Mitch has also assisted with patent drafting as well as the training of new employees and interns. From an early age, he has enjoyed figuring out how various machines and devices are put together, and how they work and also loves crafting his own items out of wood. He graduated in 2003 from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Justice Studies with a minor in Psychology, and soon after graduating, moved to Florida. Mitch is a sports fan and enjoys cheering on the local professional sports teams and staying active himself. He, along with his wife and two daughters enjoy spending as much time outside as possible, taking full advantage of all of the wonderful things the state of Florida has to offer; including fishing, time at the beach and exploring the plethora of beautiful city and state parks.
